Career history at Hilti
I joined Hilti ten years ago, from a job in accounting. My first role here was loading pallets for customer orders, and then learning how to pack the orders. I progressed through the warehouse, learning all the different functions and processes, and now I’m in a support role coaching regional and global trainees. My biggest achievement to date was to renovate the GB warehouse on time, in budget and with no impact to the customer!
My typical day is full of energy, full of questions and full of challenges. It’s lots of fun and I’ve been doing lots of travel - Capiano, South Africa, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland - in a bid to make ours the training center of excellence. We want to share our knowledge and experiences because every country is different, so we visit other centers and have an experience exhange. I usually go out to help another market, and always come back with some nice gems for our own.

Four years ago, I was looking for a company whose culture I could identify with. I wanted to work in an organization that develops its people, sets challenges, hands over responsibility and motivates me to give my very best. This is what I’ve found at Hilti, and still to this day it holds to be true.
I joined Hilti as a global trainee on the logistics track of the Outperformer program. I felt driven to start out on an exciting career path, but also wanted to be hands-on in operations, especially in the beginning, and make my way from there.
So far, I’ve had the most fun as team leader in our Manchester warehouse. It was my last assignment on the Outperformer program and I was responsible for a team of almost 20 people. While at first I was worried about the team accepting me, and the big responsibility of managing the shift, I found it to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I discovered my passion for working with other people, for motivating them and bringing out the best out of the team, while making sure their long-term development needs were met.
It’s this focus on people as being our most important asset that makes Hilti so special to me. Leaders in the company demonstrate every day that caring and high performance are not mutually exclusive.
